Time flies

I can't believe it's been almost two weeks since my last post...I  guess I've been too busy to notice.
This past Monday, I  had lunch with quilting friends (ALWAYS FUN) and then, that evening, I went back downtown to watch the new Elvis movie- it was OK but I left feeling a little 'off'... I think more than anything I felt sad - and MAD- that someone took and used people like his so-called manager did.
OK, let's catch up on quilting...well, sewing.
First off, I made Buddy a 'cool tie' in hopes it would help him in the sweltering weather we were having.
Maybe it did but I also worried about that extra weight on his neck.. he seems to be extra sensitive there l think to do with his age.
I finally got the last rows of the 'Over the Hill' quilt sewn on....and had enough blocks left over to make an 'American Girl' doll sized quilt (top)...and I THINK there are still 4 blocks left which I could make into a pillow top.Oh yeah, before I forget...I  finished the dog wall hanging.
I've had these string blocks sitting around for a few months knowing what I wanted to do with them, but never got around to doing it until this past weekend...then finished adding borders the day before yesterday.  I don't like how 'wavy' it looks on the design wall knowing that it will be fine once it's on Mo'e...sigh, it is what it is.
I thought I had a pic of it with the white borders on, but I guess I didn't.  Oh well, you'll have to use your imagination.  :)
Next up was a project from a new book that I received Monday. . I'm determined to use up my scraps!
Here's a pic of the quilt laid out. Of course, my quilt will likely have different colors.
I've completed the first three blocks using up some of the Green scraps that I have way too many of.
There's one more block to share...that's this months birdhouse BOM from Fatcat Designs.
I also prepared another block for my 2020 Covid quilt, but haven't stitched the pieces down yet so no pic today.
Just for fun pics....
One of my rose bushes.
Buddy with my newest great grandson.
MR Prissy napping with one of Buddy's 'dollies'.  Notice how he has one paw under the dolly.  :)
I think I've got you pretty much caught up with what I've been doing quilt wise. The same quilt is on Mo'e...maybe I'll get back to it tomorrow or this weekend....depends on weather and my energy (or lack of).
I almost forgot that I  have a 'funny' to share....When my son, Chris, was walking up to my deck yesterday, he saw 'my' black squirrel crawling on it's belly across the deck towards the squirrel feeders.  He said it looked like it was trying to get past without Buddy or Prissy seeing it.  I wish I had seen it..lol
OK, that's it for today
Take care and I'll c'ya later.

catching up

I've been sewing...just not posting...shame on me.  I'll have to look back at my photos to see what I've done since the blog post. OK, here's my July RSC 2022
I finally got these blocks sewn into rows.. even got the first two rows sewn together..then I lost interest...I'll get it done tomorrow, I hope.
Before that one, I  did this one using one of the fabrics that I bought at the quilt show last Friday...think it might appeal to an older gentleman.
Right now, it's going to join the others in my 'waiting to be quilted' pile.
Next came a 1600 quilt top made from some of my binding leftovers. The strips had been laying next to my sewing chair taunting me.
Last night I  grabbed a couple little bins that have been residing under Moe's frame for quite awhile.  There wasn't anything in them that inspired me so I went into my stash room and rummaged around a little bit and found fabric for this project.  It's only part of the pattern......there are supposed to be three little blocks underneath -each with its own butterfly..one was enough for me.
The butterfly isn't fastened down yet...I'll do that after the quilting is done.
So that's it for now.  Tomorrow, I  hope to finish stitching the 'zigzag' quilt and I HOPE to finish the project that's been on Mo'e for way too long.

Take care....

A little progress

is better than none at all.
completed June 30th.
Then, I grabbed some string blocks that were close by and made this top

Not real happy with it because of wavy border, but it should quilt out; its in the waiting to be quilted pile now.
my latest BOM from Fatcat Patterns fb group...think this is June's.
I've also been working on some potholders for my oldest daughter - no pics yet.
I have the zigzag quilt partially laid out on my design wall...not sure I can get all of the rows on at the same time...will find out next week...maybe. I want to get the potholders done first so I can send them off to her for her birthday which is in about a week.
Quilt show to attend on Saturday with a quilting pal, which I'm sure will involve lunch and a trip to the local quilt shop...always a fun day:) .
First half....

OK, gotta hit the shower, then walk Buddy before dr appt ( another follow up post knee surgery), and then a stop at Walmart on the way home.  THEN, I should be able to get back to working on the potholders.
Take care....

zig zag quilt...a.k.a. "Over the Hills"

I'm still dealing with issues posting but at least I can do this much.

This is what I'm working on right now.  It used up a charm pack and the leftovers of a second charm pack plus a couple of scraps I found.   The gray is Kona yardage that I purchased online for a very good price.

The pattern calls for 11 blocks across and 14 rows, I think.  I decided to make it 12
blocks across and 12 rows, which with borders should make it about 58" x 58".  Extra were made "just in case" and, I think, will be used to make a small quilt that might be the right size to use for someone in a wheel chair - not sure yet, though.

I want to get back into making some more string blocks, but can't remember where I put the 'special' paper that's like newsprint and can go through the printer.  I normally use phone book pages for string blocks, but I thought I'd make some paper pieced pineapple blocks this time.  I could use reg. printer paper, but I bought this 'newsprint' specifically for projects like this and I'd like to be able to use it this time - if I can only find it! (the problem with re-organizing and moving supplies from one room to another :(  ).

The quilt on my mid arm frame (Mo'e for those who don't know) has been there for a little over a week now.  A small quilt with just 12 blocks that I can't decide how I want to quilt the background.  I quickly figured out how I wanted to do the cats, but the background has had me stymied.  I'm also still recuperating from all the walking I did last weekend when the oldest daughter was here with two of my great grandkids so I haven't felt like standing at Mo'e long enough to do even one block.
I'm adding a lot to the cats in the way of quilting... the inner ears, faces, feet/legs and elongated tails were not in the pattern, but I think they make the cats way cuter.  In doing the eyes different, I think it gives each one a little 'personality' - some are happy, some are grumpy.... It would be nice to get the quilt done this week so I can get another one onto Mo'e - we'll see if it actually happens.  :)

take care...

Hi! Remember me?

Ok, this is a test... I've had problems (some user caused, some unknown fault).

I know it's been 'forever' since I posted on my blog; things happen and other things don't happen. And I'm still having problems with google. I have been quilting although it's been hit or miss. Finally got started on the 2020 quilt... that's what the first bunch of pics are..what I've done so far.

ARGHHH!!!!

I'm so tired of 'losing'/misplacing things!!!! Just recently, I received new bobbins for my domestic machines and soon after, wound 'wash away' thread onto one - then placed that bobbin along with the spool of the same thread... put them in a small zip lock type baggie and then put the baggie 'somewhere safe' so that I'd know where it was when I was ready to use them. Well, I'm ready to use them... but can I find them!?!?! Nooooooo. I've been looking for a couple of days now...even cleaning off my worksurface in hopes that the baggie was hiding under something --because, of course, I can't remember where that 'somewhere safe' is!! Ok, rant over...I'm going back to looking again...sigh.

Quiet but busy

I was working on quilts, but didn't have anything finished until yesterday when I finished these two...table runner and lap quilt.
Last weekend, I  took a Zoom class with Ricky Timms.  My first time doing this so I was just a little apprehensive and installed Zoom a couple of weeks before then tested it with my daughter in Wisconsin.  Still wasn't sure it was going to work for me, but everything went great.
My quilt from the class isn't done yet because I still have to decide how I want to make the borders...he leaves that completely up to you (but does give some examples of what he and others have done).
Here's what I have so far....
Oh, wait!  I forgot that I didn't take a new pic after I added a dark purple narrow inner border. Anyway, I get one idea for the outer border and love it, but then get another idea and want to try that...so, it may be awhile before I can get this top finished and then quilted.
In the meantime, I have another lap quilt laying on Mo'e while I try and decide on backing and binding.
I also found my box of binding leftovers the other day, so now, I can think about making some tops using them.  Now, if I could just find the two items that I'm actually actively looking for.....

Take care
Stay safe and warm

On to the next project

I started this one the day before yesterday and its going quicker than I thought it would. Too late for the 4th of July but we still have fi...
