Hubby came home from the hospital late this past Saturday afternoon. So, no more running down to the hospital trying to get there before the doctor does then sitting there watching my husband sleep. The sleep was something he needed, but it was kind of boring on my end... I didn't have any handwork to do and taking a book to read completely slipped my mind so I ended up playing games on my phone.
He's doing a lot better ( he had pneumonia, exasperated c.o.p.d. and chf -chronic heart failure, which means fluids built up around the heart). We had to bring oxygen tanks home with us, but, so far, he hasn't felt the need to use one and his levels read in the 90's every time I check. They also expected him to use a walker when he got home - nope, he's doing fine without it.
Next comes follow up visit with our gp and maybe his cardiologist and scheduling physical therapy to come here to our home (NOT my idea!! trust me).... oh yeah, and I have another visit scheduled with the orto dr this week, too. sigh.... who has time to sew/quilt!?!?
When we went to Walmart for groceries yesterday, I insisted that he use a motorized cart - he protested but I wasn't going to let him go unless he did - the hospital didn't let him do very much walking except to the bathroom and back, which is why I wanted him to have p.t. (just not at home). It also meant that I had to unload groceries from the cart into the trunk of our car and then from the car to the deck and then into the house - again, he wanted to do it, but I didn't want him overexerting himself. And this means that I'm still walking the dog, too, which I really don't mind as long as I don't have to walk him around the block - that's too much for my injured leg.
And while all this hospital business was going on, I got a message that my mom's younger sister passed away. There wasn't any immediate plans for her funeral - they were working on getting her into hospice. I felt helpless, not being able to offer help to her daughters/my cousins, but I needed to be with my husband.
ANYWAY.... the latest crisis is over and I'm chompin' at the bit to get started on my RSC2020 and getting back to working on a few other things. One of them being the TQS BOM for this year - a Sue Garman quilt that I liked but didn't want to purchase more fabrics for another project that looked very complicated to me, but after watching Barbara Black on the TQS show this past week, I realized that I CAN do this and, even better, I can do it using some of the fabrics/scraps I already have - even for the background. YAY! Now, all I need is the time ( and energy) to get going.
It's just past 7 a.m. and it's still BLACK outside... as soon as it's light enough, I have to take Buddy for his first walk of the day... brrr! It's cold out there - wind chill in 20's - but it's supposed to be sunny and warm(er) today with highs in the upper 30's/low 40's... not really January in Michigan weather but I'm not complaining ( too much) - no snow and temps in 40's I can live with until Spring :).
Ok... so I've rambled enough. It just seemed that I had a lot to get off my chest ( Hubby didn't want me telling ANYONE that he was in the hospital - including the kids). Now, I need to get out of my chair here and do SOMETHING (like housework - sigh)...
take care...

Now where was this earlier today when I read blogs this morning? Just showed up now! Ah well...my offer still stands if you need anything, you know how to get a hold of me. I'm so glad the hubby is doing well, but I let the cat out of the bag at retreat, so a few friends know he was in the hospital. Here's to hoping you'll find more time for your projects between all the appointments!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it's been a tough week, but glad he is home again and maybe life will get back to normal. I've had times like that with my husband in the hospital so I know how you're feeling! Hope you have the chance to get back to your sewing!
