I mailed off packages yesterday morning... one contained the QOV quilt and is heading to Mississippi ( love spelling that word) and another one went to Texas. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when they are received & opened; both contain surprises. The QOV and the daughter's quilt are scheduled to arrive on Monday - the one sent to Texas ( Santa running through the snow in his skivvies wall hanging) won't arrive until Tuesday according to the post office. I also mailed a couple of quilt patterns to a quilting friend in England. In the meantime, I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for them to get to their designations.
I went over to Colette's late this morning... she had a cone of thread that she thought might work for the turquoise bobbin thread that I need for the quilt that's on Mo'e right now. I ordered a cone from Amazon.com, but didn't take the time to read reviews first - Colette did read them and it sounds like the thread is more for a serger than a long arm - sigh ( just sent cancellation request to Amazon; hope it wasn't too late). I didn't want to drive all the way to Gall's only to find that they didn't have poly thread in Turquoise, and I hadn't met Colette's DW ( long arm machine), so off to her house I went. Spent almost two hours there, just chatting and 'playing'. She had borrowed some circle rulers from Katie and was excited about trying them out - I 'supervised' LOL. I gave her some ideas on quilting to do on her Craftsy.com block of the month - it's GORGEOUS, btw, but forgot to ask her if she knew how to make seminole blocks... I've done them before, but forgot how to construct them - and need to make them for my "Snow happens" table runner. It worked out ok, though, because once I got back home, it suddenly dawned on me how to do them... went and grabbed some scrap 2 1/2" squares and went to making a sample. I need to wash some more fabric for the borders, but then I'll be set to finish the top and MAYBE get it quilted before Thursday so that I can take it to guild meeting.
Before going over there, I was talking to Colette on the phone & telling her about the Ugly Sweater quilt block sew along that starts on February 1st
http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/p/ugly-christmas-sweaters-qal.html.
We both linked up to it - looks like it could be fun. I have never 'linked' before so it was a bit of a struggle figuring it out. Colette walked me through it, thank goodness. I don't think the sweaters are ugly - not sure they could even be made ugly - unless you purposely chose fabrics that just didn't go together.
I've done two more pair of the All star blocks since I last posted- just haven't taken pics of them yet. I thought I'd try and get them done by the end of this month so that they'd be off my design wall when I'm ready to start on the Scooby Doo quilt. Since the month ends a week from tomorrow, I don't think I'll make it, not when I have a quilt on the frame and the Snow Happens table runner to finish this coming week. Oh well, they'll just get put aside ( off from the design wall) and I'll continue to do one or two a day.
LOL Hubby and Buddy just came back from walking around the block. They had two wrapped packages with them - late Christmas gifts from Buddy's little 'girlfriend' Bella. Buddy was so excited... I put the packages on the floor so that I could get a pic with him; the little stinker took off with one of them.
We thought at first it was a bone, but after unwrapping, we found that it was a rubber chicken. He LOVES it... won't let me get close enough to cut the tag off. The other package contained a new dish - I think he likes it, but it's no rubber chicken LOL. Less than 10 minutes he's had it - the feet are missing already; now he's working on the head.
and on that note, I'm going to say TTYL... I need a quick nap.
