Not a good start

ARGHHHH!!   Started working on today's I Love My All Stars block and it's been a real PITA.  First off, I had to re-do a part of the first block SEVERAL times because I wanted the print to be right side up.  Finally got it the way I wanted - well, ok, I got it 'acceptable' ( not straight but at least right side up).  The next three pieces went ok.... then came #5, which should have been easy peasy because it's just a strip with a piece added on each end... but, did I do it right?  Noooo.... It should have been white in the middle with blue background on each end - I did it completely opposite.
the sole is supposed to be WHITE not BLUE  and it's too short

THEN... I went to sew the pieces into a block and I realize there's something wrong.

Do you see the problem?  Look in the upper right corner.  It's SHORT!  I've looked it over and looked it over... seams are trimmed correctly so I can't figure out what I did wrong.  I even turned it over and laid it on top of a previously made block... everything fits together... except for that one corner.

Last night, I sent the patterns to my oldest daughter and asked her to flip them for me and then send them back.  She did.  I just remeasured the pattern for this block... it's SUPPOSED to be 2"   ( you know, the line they put on the pattern so that you can make sure it's to scale,,,,), it's only 1 7/8" and that 1/8" makes a BIG difference.  SIGH   There are two pages to this block pattern, I KNOW I measured one page after it was flipped and printed - obviously, I should have measured both!!

The 'funny' thing is that the other page printed out correctly - why would one but not the other??   I just checked the third page ( for the shoe facing forward) and it printed to the correct scale; rechecked the second page of the block that's giving me problems and the scale measures correctly, too.  For some reason, it only failed on the one page.
So, I can either forget about doing the blocks where the shoes face left - or I can trace the  correct size pattern with the light box and see if that will copy in the correct size.  I haven't the slightest idea how to resize it on the printer... 1/8" equals what percent... who knows?!?!  Tracing would be easier.

It's going to have to wait.... I have to run errands.

Wish me luck!

Ok, after asking my daughter to flip the one pattern page again and it still coming out 1 7/8", I decided to try tracing on the back of the original pattern and using it that way.  It worked - not perfectly, but close was good enough as far as I was concerned.
I dread having to do six more of these; really considering having all the rest of the side views face left... probably wouldn't be as interesting that way, but I wouldn't have to cover bald spots on my head where I'd pulled my hair out in frustration.

I stopped down at The Hen House today and picked up my first block for the Amish with a Twist III: Best of Friends BOM 2016.  Wow!  Just looked at the size of it... 98" x 107" - I'll have to get a KING size batting for this one.  Not crazy about the colors, but it should be fun to do.  OH OH!  I just saw the picture of the appliqued version... I like that one better!  Oh well, I wanted to do something different than applique so forget that version.

Time to work on something else... unfortunately, it's the kitchen floor, not quilting.

What to work on next

I finished the two gift quilts - and both have been delivered to a parent of the little girl recipient. I have the requested photo from one...
