Ok, I might have posted this one pic before ( too lazy to go back and check)
I decided to use WhirlsnSwirls pattern, Curls and Leaves Feather ( FMQ101 video #25) for the interior of the quilt and her Curled Leaf Feather ( FMQ201 video #28) for the borders.
I tried using white Sulky thread for the top and turquoise Isacord for the backing thread; the Isacord worked just fine, no adjustments in tension needed, but the Sulky thread started breaking right away, even with adjustments, so I switched over to an off white spool of Sulky and that worked better for the most part - further into the quilt, it started breaking when I went to end a 'seam'.
Then I was running low on the Isacord and ordered what I thought would be a comparable cone of something called YazyCraft from Amazon.com. It took Colette reading the comments for me to realize that it probably wouldn't work. After borrowing a cone of the turquoise from Colette ( thank goodness for friends who have what you need), I went back to the quilting... ran out of the Isacord when I still had one row and the borders to go. I don't know why, but it took two full bobbins and part of a third to finish the quilting - it's not a huge quilt, I didn't expect to use that much - must be the semi-heavy quilting.
Here it is done and ready to take off the frame. I made a couple of mistakes while doing the border, but I wasn't about to take all that stitching out... deal with it lol. I was thinking about something else and had the leaves and swirls going in the wrong direction... most people probably won't even notice - and it's going to be my quilt, I also put the label on the wrong end, but it's something that only I would notice.
Here it is... complete with binding & label.
The QOV quilt arrived in Yazoo City yesterday afternoon and was left at the door, which made me nervous. I kept waiting to hear from her, but when I hadn't heard anything by about 10 last night, I checked and saw that she was online, but not in a good mood. I sent her message apologizing for 'bothering' her, but did she get her package; she replied that she had but because of her bad mood she hadn't opened it yet. I was just worried about it actually getting to her, especially when I knew that it had been left at her door/on her porch - there were so many stories out there about packages being stolen off people's porches over the holidays and it just made me very nervous.
As long as she got it, I won't worry.. and I won't tell her about the extra quilt that came with hers :). She'll open it when she's ready.
I received a message from my quilting friend, Natalie, this morning... she had received the Santa Running through the Snow in his Skivvies quilt that I made & surprised her with... she LOVES it.
Now that the above quilt is off the frame ( and finished), I can get back to working on the Snow Happens table runner/wall hanging - should be able to have it done and ready to show the guild Thursday night.
