First Quilt of the year....

Well, first full sized quilt completed....

I think I finished the quilting about noon, then it came time for trimming, binding & label and then the last hour or so I've been sewing on buttons & bows (ribbons).  I showed it to hubby once it was DONE DONE and he LIKES it ( that's 2 for 2 ??  what's up with him??  lol).

Because I was afraid of running out of backing, I added a strip to the top and started quilting as close to it's edge as I reasonably could... well, I had more than enough backing, so the instructions for making the tree skirt ( bottom half of the backing) were trimmed off after quilting - and I thought that was the best part of the backing.  Oh well, as long as I didn't run short, I won't complain.

Looking at it now, I kind of wish I had used dark brown for the binding, but it is what it is.  I don't HATE it, I just think it might have looked nicer with the brown instead of the candy stripe.

The quilting is nothing fancy but I didn't think that this quilt required it.  It's just fine - a little 'oops' here and there, but nothing I can't live with.

Hubby asked who gets it; I told him that I'm keeping it - at least for awhile.  Maybe someone will come along that I feel would enjoy it; if so, then I'll offer it to them.

Next up on Mo'e will be Goodnight Irene.  Seriously thinking about doing the Baptist Fan quilting on it.  I haven't done it before so will have to put practice fabric/batting on to test it first.

No I Love My All stars block done today.  Maybe tomorrow.

ARGHHH  as I'm trying to type this, I feel myself sinking lower and lower.  The chair in the sewing room kept going down ( the hydraulics are shot, I guess) so I moved it out to the family room where my desk  and laptop are.  It was next to impossible to sew a seam when my chin kept getting closer and closer to the table that holds my sewing machine.  I sit lower in the other chair, but at least it doesn't keep going lower and lower - wish I could figure out how to raise it up, though.  I'm thinking I'd better start looking around for a new chair for my sewing room.  I hate to part with this one, it looks almost brand new ( and hubby got for me just three Christmas' ago), but it really needs to be replaced.

Snow outside and more to come... YUCK.

TTFN ( ta ta for now)

What to work on next

I finished the two gift quilts - and both have been delivered to a parent of the little girl recipient. I have the requested photo from one...
