I've decided that this is the year that I will get to those projects that I've been saying I'll do 'someday' or 'one of these days' and that's basically what I've been doing so far this month - the I Love My All stars is one of them.
Today, I'm working on another one. A few months back, one of the guild members brought in the felt Minion pincushion that she had made - so cute that I just HAD to make one for myself. It's more labor intensive than I thought it would be - as in mostly hand sewing. Here's what I have so far....
This may end up being a two day job... we'll see.
Last night, I worked on the Goodnight Irene quilt-- and it didn't start out good. I wanted to do the quilting in the Baptist Fan; well, after less than one row, I realized that it wasn't going to work. First off, I started at the top of the quilt and you really need to start at the bottom and work your way up; I couldn't figure out how to do it, so started at the top... crooked stitching, and just realizing that it wasn't going to work had me change my plans.
I don't think you can see it, but in the second row ( I'll have to go back and unstitch the first row) the crosses are filled with feathers. The other block is stitched around the edges of the prints just inside the seam lines and then I repeated the same for the inner four blocks adding curves and straight stitching in the ditch. I like it so much better.
After hubby went to bed, I didn't want to run Mo'e and disturb him, so I went searching for something else to work on -other than unstitching the Baptist Fan 'mess'. Then I realized that it was the 27th and I still hadn't worked on my Amish with a Twist block of the month so I got that out and did it... wasn't too hard, but really required some concentration - and double spraying the fabric with Best Press before cutting. Now I can pick up month two on Monday without feeling a twinge of guilt :).
And on that note, it's lunch time - then back to work on Mikey Minion.
