Goodnight Irene - part deux

here's the top sewn together... minus borders, which will come later today or tomorrow.  You can't see in the pic, but there are actually EIGHT rows - the pattern calls for SEVEN.  I'm the first to admit that my math is lousy and this just goes to prove it.

I debated whether to add the 8th row; hubby said "ADD IT!!"... I told him that it would mean I'd have to make at least two more sets of blocks for the borders and that I could take that extra row and break it down into doll quilt size, but he kept saying "ADD IT" ( without even seeing what the quilt looks like lol).

Now that I did add the extra row, I'll have to do some more math to make sure I have enough for the backing.  I know I have a five yd length of fabric that would have worked without the extra row, but will only leave me 2" ( or less) on the top and bottom and I need 4" on each when loading it onto Mo'e-- which means I'll have to find something to at least temporarily add to the top.

I'm heading into JoAnn's in just a few minutes ... I have a $50 gift card and two coupons for 50% off... and I want to get sky blue fabric for the Christmas Row by Row by Sindy Rodenmayer that I'm doing (again).  Since I'm going to be using mostly scraps for the applique's, I don't think it's necessary that I buy quilt shop quality fabric for the background.

We're supposed to get some bad weather later today, guess I'd better get going so I'll be back home before it starts.

Finished the top tonight about 6 pm...

What to work on next

I finished the two gift quilts - and both have been delivered to a parent of the little girl recipient. I have the requested photo from one...
