Here's my blocks for today... took me most of the morning because I was operating in S L O W mode.
My friend, Marnie, called me just before I was to stitch the last piece on to the second block ( the shoe on the left) and got to hear me "mumble mumble" because the piece did not line up exactly right and I decided to take the seam out and try again - getting the same result. Oh well, I don't think anyone will notice once it quilted.
Got off the phone with Marnie and then friend, Vicki, called. She was wanting to hear how the mini retreat went last weekend - and was hoping that I could tell her even though I wasn't there. Of course, I could/did tell her... SOME... did not tell her all - and I won't.
Now I'm doing laundry before taking hubby out to dinner for his birthday. I told him that I'd even take him to McDonald's if he wanted - that's his favorite place for burgers, which are one of his favorite foods. He said we can go to Eaton Place if I want - told him it's HIS birthday; we'll go where he wants. Sunday, we'll meet up with his son and daughter in law ( and maybe some of the grandkids) at Cracker Barrel for another birthday dinner.
I just ran that previously mentioned red fabric back through the wash again, but with vinegar this time - and one color catcher... time to go see the results. ARGHHHH color catcher came out bright pink. Ok, going to rewash AGAIN, but this time with HOT water and vinegar. When I wet the fabric last night and then rubbed it with a piece of white cotton, the color didn't transfer - but I didn't trust that test - which is why I'm running it through the wash AGAIN --- THIS time I remembered to toss in a piece of white cotton to see if it turns color like the color catcher did. Wish me luck! I really don't want to have to go buy a different red fabric for this quilt; I really like the print on this one, but if it won't stop bleeding, I just can't use it for this quilt.
I have another piece of fabric waiting to go through the washer... it's for the center of the snowman embroidered table runner/wall hanging that I want to start on - gives me something to do while watching tv at night.
Still haven't quite worked out the logistics for the Baptist Fan on Goodnight Irene yet... I figure I can do that Sunday or Monday since I won't have time to work on it until then anyway.
Lots of activity going on on the guild's facebook page... think I'll head over there and see what's going on. I posted a pic of the Scalloped Potatoes quilt that some of us will be doing with Toni Ivey at our April sew-in and I guess there are some questions about it... off to see what's going on...
