Or in this case, NOT finish up.... I'm still working on the kitty and puppy quilt... I COULD have finished it today, but after running errands (including getting a much needed hair cut) I just didn't feel up to it. It will still be there waiting for me on Sunday when I'll be more apt to feel like finishing it.
In the meantime, here's a few pics of what I've been doing in the borders.... this photo shows a ball with stars wrapped around it
and a dog collar with a tag that has Buddy 'inscribed' on it.
I stitched two pieces of batting left over from two of the BB quilts.... apparently, they were not the same size.... you can see how little I have left on the right side and it's not a whole lot wider on the left either.
And just to prove that no matter how careful I think I'm being, I still end up missing one applique' piece per quilt... this time it was the kitty's nose. I stitched over it with the yellow thread I'm using but will go back in with black felt pen and color over the stitches.
And this came in the mail today........YAY!! Found it on sale on the AQS site... $45 and change and free shipping. I ordered it on New Years's Eve morning - in a different colorway ( blues, purples, there might have been some pinks and soft greens). For some reason I went back into the site on the evening of New Year's Day and happen to notice that they also had this kit in a neutral colorway. The first thing the next morning, I called them to see if there was any way I could switch my order and get the neutral kit. It took a few minutes to make sure it was also on sale and that my order had not already been shipped out, but whoever I talked to was able to switch them for me. This is going to make a perfect quilt for my son who already has the Labyrinth quilt by the same designer. Now all I need to do is find backing fabric for it and get to work on it.... but AFTER I get a couple more quilts quilted.
Tomorrow, we go to Shipshewana, Indiana to attend The Booth Brothers concert and, hopefully, be able to give them their quilts afterwards. (I just remembered to stick the tickets in my purse so that I won't forget them (again) tomorrow.). We'll be leaving about 11 a.m. ( weather is supposed to be good) and should be down there and searching for a parking space by 12:30. The show isn't until 2 so we'll have time to hopefully find a good parking spot and not have to walk two blocks over.
Ok, I'm outta here.... I need to make gift tags for the bags with the quilts in them.
take care....
ttyl
