I didn't get any quilting done today... BUT I did yesterday.... I finished this one...
front
blurry pic of the back along with Mr. Prissy. This one was actually finished quilting on Wed. but I was tired and didn't do the binding and label until yesterday morning.
Then I loaded this doll quilt onto Mo'e and tried a couple of things I hadn't tried before.
When I went to baste the top down, I didn't get the biggest stitch like I usually do.. I had this one - and I liked it so much that I used it to do the actual quilting. Now that I've seen the backside, I know that I should have tested it before I started quilting. I should have tightened the top tension just a bit, but since it's a doll quilt, I'm sure it will be fine. It's not like I left toe catchers. The pattern was a new one to me, too and I was very surprised at how easy it was to do.... it's not perfect but I could have done a whole lot worse. I'm happy with it and can't wait to use that pattern again - all free motion, of course.
I've been watching videos over on the new Fons and Porter website - where 'everything is together in one place - patterns, classes, videos, and more'. I've been refreshed on a few things and learned a few other things - this quilting pattern was one.
This is the back of the doll quilt... since the top was made of leftovers from the frog quilt I recently quilted, it made sense to use leftover backing, too. There's STILL more scraps left - some kind of large ( less than 1/2 a yard but more than a fat quarter)... they can sit and rest until I figure out where to use them.
And earlier today I got a message from quilting friend, Katie, asking if I still wanted/needed help getting the charity quilt supplies down to the LQS where it's going to be stored for now. I jumped at her offer and hauled the stuff out of the storage room it has been in ( away from puppy dogs and kitty cats - well, most of the time) and she took some in her vehicle and I got the rest into my car trunk, grabbed Buddy and off we went. I am so glad not to have to mess with that anymore. I could tell stories of things that have happened in our guild over the past couple of years, but they might keep me up at night and I don't want/need that.
Speaking of quilting... I go in for cataract procedure/removal on Monday so, obviously, there won't be any quilting for at least the first part of the week... hopefully, I'll feel up to by the weekend - it's the guild's sew in weekend and I want to be there.
Ok, almost time to call it a night
Tomorrow we're meeting a grandson and his family ( parents and sisters) for lunch. I haven't seen them for over a year and I can't remember the last time hubby saw them.
take care....
ttyl..
