I took one of the remaining fqs and cut it into 2" strips and stitched them in pairs for the border.
Then, this afternoon, I went down to the LQS and found some cotton fabric - orange with tiny dots of other colors ( that are in the top along with orange - no photo tonight). I had thought about using flannel for the backing, too, but I didn't see anything that I liked all that much and I wasn't sure but what it might stretch once I put it on Mo'e. I have had some problems sewing the blocks together because one piece wants to stretch a little while the other piece doesn't.
After coming back from the LQS and stopping at Walmart for crib size batting, I came home and decided that I'd get the other kit and make a second top since I had bought extra backing and batting with that in mind. But could I find it???? Nooooooo.... I looked around my sewing room, nope,.... looked on the table next to my desk here in the family room... nope.... went into the former gkids' room which now houses some fabrics and some tops waiting to be quilting along with batting... nope, not there either. Sat in my sewing room and tried to remember what I did with that kit. Then it dawned on me!! It was in the sewing room walk in closet where I store fqs, batiks, charm packs and scraps - see what happens when I put things away, Katie? lol
Here's a pic of the 2nd kit still bundled up and the tag with some of the info on it. I THINK I got it on clearance at the AQS website. (note: 1/26/19 - I've checked all of my usual online fabric stores and can't find where I bought these :( - it's starting to frustrate me )
and here's a pic of the second one in progress.... well, it was in progress until I did this....
Time to make friends with Jack the ripper again. Thankfully, it didn't take too long....
and I was able to have the top sewn together before heating up leftovers for dinner tonight.
After dinner, I had to make another run over to Walmart. Apparently I had run out of one of my scripts and I NEED it. Made a call to the pharmacy to make sure I had a refill and then waited until I got a text telling me it was ready for pickup. Trying to keep track of hubby's 13 different medications and my own 7 usually isn't too hard to do, but I messed up twice this week.
I bought hubby a couple more big jars of animal crackers while I was at Walmart the second time.. when I got home, I told him to make sure they last because I may not be going back out again until Spring! It's freakin' COLD out there. The sign in front of the credit union said 4 degrees - our car said the temp was 10 degrees ---- either way it's TOO DANG COLD. The neighbor dog was outside when I came home and I usually go say hi and give him a couple of pats but I told him "Sorry, not tonight - too cold".
--and all this talk about cold is making me want a hot chocolate... that's what I going to do... go fix myself one and since it's after 8, I'm going to bed ( I think Buddy is already there lol).
take care.....
ttyl.......
